I realized in never said THANK YOU for my AMAZING half-birthday gift. You all are so generous in your gifts and I was over the moon with my Amazon Gift Card and Starbucks gift card. I immediately went online and bought our class some Dr. Seuss books for our Read Across America week. We used them for reading and writing throughout the week, so THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! I can't say it enough!
I apologize for being away last week. The flu hit hard and it took me a minute to get back in the groove. Unfortunately the poor blog was left abandoned. I will begin this week with a recap of last:
Last week writing was spent wrapping up our opinion letters about what pet would be ideal as a class pet. In math we spent the week solving math word problems and learning different ways to make the same amount of change. Reading was focused on reading dialogue from different points of view and with different voices for each character. Phonics was regular plural nouns, and content was wrapping up stars and beginning our moon phases.
For this week, we have a lot of assessments and review seeing as report cards go home next Wednesday.
Writing- We are completing our last opinion letter about Cats VS Dogs. Students will convince a friend why either a cat or dog is the superior animal. :)
Grammar- We will review and assess proper nouns. In addition we will have review games of all our grammar throughout the quarter: compound sentences, proper nouns, conjunctions, and shades of meaning.
Math- We are comparing 3-digit number written in different ways, reviewing word problems, and assessing fact fluency.
Reading- We are reviewing government officials and rules and laws during reading this week. We will have a final assessment in this social study standard as well.
Phonics- This week is irregular plural nouns. Are spelling words are sheep, deer, teeth, women, dozen, traffic, moose, geese, and oxen. We are focusing on how irregular plural nouns stay the same, change their spelling, or change into a new word (child---children, person----people)
High frequency words are:
Content- We are wrapping up moon phases and shadows.
