Sadly we began the week in rather low spirits after last night's game, but we regained our positive and enthusiastic spirits as the day progressed.
Here is a glimpse at the week ahead.....
Writing- we will be continuing opinion writing on our favorite version of Cinderella from around the world. We will be filling our writing with more evidence and details from text.
Math- We are going to review adding and subtracting within 1000 using various strategies. We are also looking at math writing within word problems and explaining our thinking process with words.
Reading- We are continuing Cinderella, however we are looking at different points of view of the characters within the text. We will read books such as "Cinderfella", as well as a text from the evil stepmother's point of view.
Phonics- We are going to reassess the multi-syllable words ending in -le, -al, -el, due to many students not doing well on our spelling assessment last week. Please make sure to have your students practicing their spelling words at home throughout the week, it makes a HUGE difference.
The words this week are: couple, handle, label, noble, table, animal, bridle, global, nickel
High frequency words are the same as last week.
Content- We are continuing Jackie Robinson. We are having a STEM day on Tuesday where we will focus on baseball, building a sustainable tee to hit the ball off of, seeing some of KSU's baseball team play and answer questions about baseball being different today verses when Jackie Robinson played.
**NOTE on HOMEWORK*** There are no reading passages this week, but please make sure your student gets their 20 minutes of reading in each night. :)
A few important reminders.......
Please see the two posts below for an important message from Principal Keeney.
1) Is for a volunteer opportunity
2) Is a personal message to all parents about a change at King Springs.
