We had an excellent time last week at the Jimmy Carter Center learning the impact and achievements of Georgia native, Jimmy Carter! I saw many moms come out for Muffins with Mom as well! The count down to SPRING BREAK (April 3rd-7th) is swiftly approaching.
Here is a follow up from last week and a glimpse of our week this week:
Writing- We are finishing up our "planning" phase and will begin our rough draft process for Fictional Narrative. We are writing from a 1st person perspective, but the story is about a made up character.
Math- This week and last will be spent on geometry. We are learning about 2D shapes and their attributes: sides, vertices, and angles. The only 3D shape we cover this year are cubes in which students learn how many faces, edges, and sides. We will begin partitioning these shapes into halves and fourths later this week.
Reading- This week and last week have covered main Ideas and Main Topics within a non-fiction text. We are breaking it down paragraph by paragraph and identifying the main topic and key details in each section.
Phonics: This week we are looking at how verbs change into describing a person, by adding an "er" or "or". Our spelling words this week are painter, writer, farmer, actor, sailor, visitor, swimmer, runner, robber. Our high frequency words are...

Content- We are wrapping up Jimmy Carter by comparing his life to our life, reviewing his character traits, and writing an informational paragraph about key impacts he made during his lifetime.
