Here is a glimpse of our week....
Writing- We will be wrapping up our fictional narratives. We are focusing on adding goals, challenges, and resolution endings. We will begin writing our final drafts this week.
Grammar- We are reviewing prefixes this week and discussing the meaning they add to words.
Math- We are focusing on partitioning (equal shares) rectangles and circles. We will divide rectangles into rows and columns. We are beginning fractions by introducing halves, thirds, and fourths.
Reading- We are looking at the author's purpose: to inform, entertain, or persuade. We will discuss different types of non-fiction texts and figure out why the author wrote it.
Phonics- This week we are looking at how to convert a base word into comparison words. For example: big--bigger--biggest
Our spelling words are the following: rounder, smoother, lighter, funniest, earliest, prettiest, bigger, sadder, hottest
High frequency words are above.
Content: We are reviewing allocation of goods and services this week: lottery, bartering, price, trade, majority rule, contests, force, and sharing. We define what goods are, services are, and what needs are verses wants.
A few reminders......
-The author Peter Roop is coming to visit tomorrow from 9:30-10:30. Be sure to ask your student what they learned! :)
- This Friday we are having an Easter Egg Hunt! Please bring in 10-15 eggs that are stuffed with peanut-free, individually wrapped candy or snack. Food only please.
-We are trying to win Cobb County's Braves Food Drive to get the Braves to come visit King Springs Elementary! Please bring any can food items or dry goods to KSE during the month of April.
-Red house gets a crazy hair day/hat day this THURSDAY for winning the month of March.
