That's right! This week is the first week of spelling words and our first spelling test THIS Friday. Each week I will post the spelling words on the blog, along with our high frequency words for the week. Your student will also be working on these words throughout the week in our "Word Work" rotation during our Daily 5 reading rotations.
Don't forget OPEN HOUSE is this Thursday from 6:00-7:30! Hope to see you there!
Writing- We are beginning personal narratives this week and focusing on strong beginnings and middles of our story with descriptive characters, setting, and problem.
Reading- We are focusing on story structure this week: beginning, middle, end, problem, and solution. We will be looking at different passages and stories to identify these features.
Math- We are continuing place value practice with hundreds, tens, and the ones place. Please continue practicing this at home with your student, as well as practicing skip counting by 5s, 10s, and 100s.
Grammar- This week is regular plural nouns. Nouns ending with "s", "es" and "ies"
Spelling/Phonics- Our words this week are: shock, fish, chunk, rock, trunk, dish, napkin, magnet, and basket. High frequency words are: eat, food, sometimes, soon, watch. Making flashcards is a great idea for extra practice at home! :)
Content- We are reviewing cardinal directions and diving into our Georgia geographical regions this week: Appalachian Plateau, Blue Ridge, Coastal Plains, Piedmont, and Valley and Ridge regions.
Homework will begin Tuesday instead of Monday due to the eclipse.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks and have a great week!
